Amor Americano used a double string quartet with bass to create the atmosphere for a narration of Pablo Neruda's poetry. The ensemble created tableaux with pizzicato, with harmonics, before reaching a central section in which the richness of the strings were allowed to sound in intricate rhythmic patterns.
